John Brisbin, Esq
Dear Sir
I have just returned from an examination of damage to the Bloomsburg.
The whole track between Shickshinny and Kingston was submerged from 4 to 10 feet, and from Shickshinny to Northumberland a very large portion of the track was also covered the main damage between from Kingston to Shickshinny. This will take considerable time to put in the same order it was before the flood, but it will be so that trains can keep by Friday night of this week trains will run today from here to Kingston. The whole damage will not be left [?] than from fifteen to twenty thousand dollars.
The damage to Canal cannot [?]be seen as it is still covered to a great extent with water, but it is no doubt much great than that done to the Rail Road and must require a month or two to repair. I have asked Humphery when he can meet me at Owego or Ithaca and intend going up as soon as I hear from him.
Truly yours [?]
James Archbald
