Dear Sir
I received Sisters letter about one hour ago.
I am well and hope that you are the same.
Yesterday I received two letters one from Alfred and one from Thirsten and it seams as if I had just been home. I am here in ould Camp Curtin yet and have got a new suit of clothes and if you ever was a boy you now how I feel.
I was on guard yesterday and last nite we had a very plesant time for it the weather is sow nice tow day I have been to the Citty and since I came back I have been very busy a cuting hare at .10 cents a nip..
Hannah scolded me because I did not give two hundred Dollars for a man in my place. I thought that I mite as well go to scool a while as not as long as I could ride thare free but thare was one day when it stormed I have give that very quick if I could have went home and stayed but as long as as it is as nice weather as it is now I shal not grumble.
Hannah is anxious too send me a box of things but you thell her that I should like some Pan cakes and honey if she could send them or some mush and milk but tell her that she must not fret for I get enough to eat about three times a day and I think that I have not lost more than I have gained. I should like to have you come down and see how we live we sleep like pigs and eat like hogs. I have writ all I can at presant so good by give my love to Louisa and all the rest that I ever see.
You must write as often as you have any thing that would be new to me.
From your affectionate Brohter Ebert Smith to PV Thacher
